BIG PROJECT: BRIDGING INCLUSION & INTEGRATION GAPS (BIG PROJECT VOL.II)

The Bridging Inclusion and Integration Gaps (BIG PROJECT) is an initiative funded by the European Solidarity Corps and coordinated by IDEP-Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (The Cyprus National Agency). The BIG PROJECT seeks to empower local and migrant youths in Cyprus by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to become active citizens who contribute positively to their communities. The project aims to foster a sense of inclusion, cohesion, multiculturalism, and active citizenship among local youths and documented migrants, including recognized refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, students, asylum seekers, and marginalized individuals. BIG PROJECT VOLUME II builds on the activities and the experiences of BIG Project Vol. I, addressing the real challenges faced by young migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and local youth in Cyprus. Many of these young individuals encounter obstacles such as unemployment, social and mental health issues, and limited access to safe and supportive environments. This project aims to bridge these gaps by offering practical support, emotional empowerment, and opportunities for meaningful connections, creating a Cyprus where every young person, regardless of their background, has the tools, confidence, and opportunities to thrive.

Objectives of BIG PROJECT VOLUME II

The project aims to empower youth through practical skill‑building, mental health support, and creative expression. It promotes social inclusion by bringing migrant and local youth together in safe, interactive spaces that encourage dialogue and solidarity. It removes participation barriers by offering childcare, transportation support, online access, and language assistance. It also strengthens youth leadership by encouraging participants to take initiative, lead activities, and become active citizens. Finally, the project raises community awareness about diversity, inclusion, and the positive contributions of young people.

Why BIG PROJECT VOLUME II Matters

Cyprus has a diverse youth population, but many, particularly migrants, face barriers to their potential. BIG PROJECT VOLUME II addresses these challenges with compassionate innovation. This youth-led initiative focuses on empowerment and equality, serving as a transformative platform and a bridge between communities for a more inclusive future.
